SET SAFETY
Set safety is not a checkbox it is a culture. Bill Dion believes that every person on a production deserves to go home safely at the end of every day, and that it is the Line Producer's responsibility to make that happen.
From pre-production planning through wrap, Bill integrates safety into every aspect of the production from budget line items for safety equipment to daily safety meetings and clear emergency protocols.
SAFETY PRACTICES
Safety Bulletins
Familiar with all AMPTP Safety Bulletins and their application on set. Ensures all department heads are briefed on relevant bulletins before and during production.
Safety Meetings
Mandates daily safety meetings before each shooting day. Coordinates with the 1st AD and Key Grip to ensure all hazards are identified and communicated to the crew.
Stunt Coordination
Works closely with stunt coordinators to ensure all stunt work is properly budgeted, scheduled, and executed with appropriate safety measures in place.
Weapons & Firearms
Experienced with productions involving firearms and weapons. Ensures proper armorer protocols are followed and all relevant safety procedures are communicated to cast and crew.
Location Safety
Conducts thorough location safety assessments before committing to any shooting location. Identifies and mitigates risks related to terrain, weather, traffic, and public access.
Emergency Protocols
Establishes clear emergency protocols on every production, including evacuation plans, first aid resources, and communication chains for all foreseeable emergencies.
Mental Health & Wellbeing
Advocates for crew mental health and wellbeing. Supports reasonable working hours, proper meal breaks, and access to mental health resources on longer productions.
Incident Reporting
Maintains rigorous incident reporting procedures. All near-misses and incidents are documented, reviewed, and used to improve safety protocols going forward.
